0.42X FISHEYE LENS W/ MACRO FOR CANON EOS DIGITAL REBEL [Camera] Reviews
0.42X FISHEYE LENS W/ MACRO FOR CANON EOS DIGITAL REBEL [Camera] Reviews
This review is from: 0.42X FISHEYE LENS W/ MACRO FOR CANON EOS DIGITAL REBEL [Camera] (Electronics)
I have a canon GL2 and wanted a wide angle or fisheye. I have no real complaints about the quality of this lens, but do have a big warning. If you buy this for a 58mm camera, it comes with step up rings for you to get up to the 58mm but this creates a black barrell on the outside when you want the big wide angle shot. Though this can be a cool effect, it is probably not want you want. So be warned before buying, and get a different lens that is a true 58mm if you want to get an uncluttered fisheye effect. For the macro however since you are usually filming something way close, it isn't a problem.

This review is from: 0.42X FISHEYE LENS W/ MACRO FOR CANON EOS DIGITAL REBEL [Camera] (Electronics)
The lens really is a pair of two lenses. Assembled both, become a semi-fisheye/wide lens what, has that circular border (as in a common door fisheye) that gives the photo some interesting effect. Also, you can have wide angle photos just changing the focal length.
The second part is a real cheap macro lens that can be detached. It has some interesting features and you can get decent pictures with almost no distance at all (though, you need some light). There's a small distortion, but it can be handled easy.
It comes with a couple of adapter rings (52mm and 58mm) for different cameras. I used it with a Canon Digital Rebel XT and it really gives you the idea of a wide angle lens. It may not be as some professional lenses, but the desired effect is enough.
Above all that, it's insanely cheap for a wide/macro lens. And that's a good combo for less than 40 bucks.

This lens does what it is supposed to do - but just that. It feels flimsy, and in all honesty, I felt somewhat like I was putting a walmart sticker on a Tiffany bag when using this lens on my 30D. I decided to go with a dedicated canon fisheye lens instead. You will NOT be disappointed by the shots that you get with the lens - the fisheye effect is strong and the shots clear. You might be disappointed by the quality of the lens itself.

Digital 0.45X Professional Wide Angle Lens 58 MM with Macro High Definition Reviews

Two tricks make this adapter really useful and versatile: a step-down converter ring, and one simple Photoshop adjustment.
It converts my 28mm equivalent lens to what I roughly estimate is a 21mm lens--a big increase in angle of view.
I got one of these adapters for my Olympus micro 4/3 camera, to try out as an alternative to a $600 true wideangle.
The big problem is substantial barrel distortion. Also, there is chromatic aberration in the corners and some vignetting (darkening in those corners). Now, here's the trick: Photoshop Elements (and, no doubt, other photo management programs) can eliminate the barrel distortion in: Filter/Correct Camera Distortion/Remove Distortion (try +20 to +30%). This has the huge additional benefit of pulling the corners out of the picture without reducing the wide angle of view--the very corners where both the chromatic aberration and vignetting occur! Crop to make the picture rectangular, and you have reduced... Read more

This review is from: Digital 0.45X Professional Wide Angle Lens 58 MM with Macro High Definition (Electronics)
I bought this adapter primarily for use as a wide-angle lens once attached to my stock EOS 18-55mm lens that came with my Canon EOS Rebel XSi. On receiving it I found it doubles as a macro adapter (you just need to unscrew the wide-angle adapter). For the price it is a good deal, it costs below $30 and any decent fish-eye or wide-angle lens system will cost a good deal above $100. However there are performance issues which I will highlight here. Though I must mention, I found nothing amiss with the macro adapter - it had a crisp but narrow depth of focus, which I think is desirable in macro photography in which you require only your subject to be clearly focused. However the wide-angle adapter was a different story. I usually get crisp images with the stock EOS 18-55mm lens that came with my camera, the borders of distant objects are sharp and clear. However after attaching the wide-angle adapter the borders of distant objects tended to be hazy (thicker borders that looked like a... Read more

I bought this item based on the reviews...and because the wide lens that I wanted was not available. It's a nice cheap sub but you can't use the auto focus on your lens and if you have to focus quickly it's not a good sub.
So. It you are going to take the time to focus on every shoot then it's a good sub...but if you are changing positions and going from shot to shot then best to go with an original lens.

This review is from: Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM 1-to-1 Macro Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras (Camera)
I love Canon. Although there were times when I shot with Nikons (D700, D300) and were pretty impressed with the result, I always came back to Canon. This is the first is macro lens for Canon and they got it right. I have used the 60mm, 100mm, & 180mm macro before and by far this is the best! Now, if you already own a 100mm macro you should try it before upgrading because the IQ of the lens are identical. I usually use this lens for portraits (yes, I know the 85mm & 135mm is a better portrait lens.) of my daughter and the IS is awesome. Hand holding 1/40 I can still get a sharp picture.
The thing that I really hated about the non-IS 100mm macro was the distribution of weight - it was the most awkward thing to shoot with. This lens feels lighter because of the even distribution of weight and size (gradual taper) and it includes a deep hood.
I know $1K is a hefty sum of cash, but considering what you get and how long it can last you - I don't know... Read more

This review is from: Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM 1-to-1 Macro Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras (Camera)
I wasn't certain this lens would be a good value or choice for an APS-C camera. Having recently purchased a 7D, I felt the focal length might be too long, but didn't want the EF-S 60mm macro, when I expect to purchase a body with a full-frame sensor in a couple years. For anyone considering a 100mm Macro, I'm 6x6" tall, and was able to squeeze in an 8x11" sheet of paper on the floor, while standing with my 20D.
I evaluated the EF 100mm Macro and this lens side-by-side. The older 100mm Macro has a great reputation. From the specifications, you'll see that the new lens is slightly longer, and weighs more. The build quality is excellent and consistent with an L lens. Optics are precise. Color and Bokeh are outstanding, as review samples attest.
Auto focus and manual focus are smooth and deliberate. As with other Macros, the focus is precise, but moves slower than a standard telephoto lens of the same focal length. It takes approximately 2.5 seconds to focus from... Read more

This review is from: Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM 1-to-1 Macro Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras (Camera)
I hardly ever write reviews but I felt that I really needed to write a quick note about how amazing this macro lens is. I used to be a Nikon gal until I sold my D300 for the Canon 7D. I also gave up my beloved 105mm Nikkor macro lens at that time, with much trepidation. Would I ever find a lens as sharp with as good IQ? Well, I have no more fears -- the 100mm IS macro fits that bill and more! It is simply amazing. I have the 24-70mmL and 70-200mmL lenses and this macro blows both lenses out of the water as far as IQ and sharpness. I cannot describe the beauty of the colors of my macro flowers! I posted a couple pix with this review... It is also a sharper lens than my 70-200L IS f/4, which I think is a superb lens on it's own. The bokah with this lens is also smoother than the 70-200. Again, a pleasant surprise since I also love that lens. I cannot ever imagine anyone being disappointed with this macro. Just buy it with a credit card that gives you cash back or miles... Read more
